Kevin Schwantz is due to ride the Suzuki RGV500 that claimed his victory in the 1993 MotoGP World Championship, at this
week’s Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.
Schwantz will travel on the re-established bike for demo laps of
the 2.621-mile road circuit at Indianapolis Motor Speedway at 2.15pm this Sunday (30th August), 45 minutes before the beginning
of the MotoGP event.
Schwantz who originates from Houston has claimed 25 wins over his Grand Prix career. This
will be the sole moment that he has ridden this motorcycle since he retired in1995.
“We fired it up one weekend,
I think, late in the year in 1995,” Schwantz states. “I’m looking forward to it. I’ve sat on it a
couple of times. We've got some new Michelin tires for it. I'm not going to try and throw down a qualifying lap, that's
for sure, but I'm really looking forward to riding it. Hearing that V4 two-stroke running around out here is going to
be special.”
A demo of a fresh Moto2 session motorbike will also occur on Saturday, from 4pm-4.40pm.
Tickets for the event of the season at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix, can
be bought online at www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com for a minor fee of $75 which entitles a a three-day General Admission
