Mattia Pasini debut

Italian 250cc competitor Mattia Pasini has been given a huge asset by Pramac Racing on Monday in the Czech Republic, as he received his first ever opportunity to ride a MotoGP engine.

Pasini claimed a pleasing 3.5 seconds from Jorge Lorenzo’s best lap of the day which put him only sixth tenths behind the slowest competitor Gabor Talmacsi.

He explains, “I am happy with what I could do. Obviously I’m not going to be setting pole position times as I’m just starting. The hardest thing at the moment is braking. The riding position is also totally different to being on a 250cc bike, but the team had already prepared the machine on Sunday night to suit my body shape.”

Commenting on whether he may see a MotoGP engine again prior to the end of the year, due to Mika Kallio’s continuing non attendance from the squad substituting for Casey Stoner in the factory team for the following 2 events, Pasini says, “I’m not sure yet, but I would not rule it out.”
